Tradeify: are bots allowed? 2026 rules

Tradeify doesn't shut the door on trading bots, but it sets limits on them: personal bot, proof of ownership, no high frequency. Here is what its official documents say, and what remains to be confirmed with its support team.

Tradeify: are bots allowed? 2026 rules

Last verified: October 12, 2026 · Official sources: Funded Trader Agreement (last modification indicated: May 2026), "Guidelines for Traders" (page dated August 12, 2026), Risk & Compliance Guidelines (September 15, 2026).

What you'll learn

  • Under what conditions Tradeify allows bots and algorithms
  • What's prohibited: HFT, shared bot, hedging, microscalping
  • The 10-second rule and the limits to build into a bot
  • What the official pages say about the API, VPS and trade copiers, and what they don't say (commercially bought bots)

The short answer

Conditional. According to Tradeify's Funded Trader Agreement (section 6.6) and its help center, bots and algorithms are allowed, but within a precise framework: you must be the sole owner of the strategy, not use it at other firms and not engage in high-frequency trading (HFT). Tradeify reserves the right to verify.

What the official rule says

The agreement (section 6.6) and the "Guidelines for Traders" help center page set out the same conditions, four in number:

  • Ownership: you must be able to prove that you are the sole owner of the bot or strategy, and that nobody else has access to it or uses it.
  • Exclusive use: the bot can run on your personal accounts at Tradeify, but using it with several firms goes against Tradeify's policy.
  • No HFT: personal bots are accepted as long as they don't engage in high frequency; Tradeify states that it has risk measures in place to detect these practices.
  • Verification: if your accounts are flagged, Tradeify may request information or documents.

The help center goes further: Tradeify says it looks for similar orders on other accounts and may require a live video in which you activate the code on your own computer ("Guidelines for Traders" page, dated August 12, 2026).

The help center's "Risk & Compliance Guidelines" (September 15, 2026) restate the general framework: automation is only permitted where expressly authorized, and the trader remains fully responsible for it. They cite among the grounds for review prohibited high-frequency systems, bots or strategies that are not owned or not authorized, the sharing of proprietary strategies and coordinated automation across unrelated accounts. They specify that no trading technology exempts you from a Tradeify rule. A review does not in itself mean that a rule has been violated.

What's allowed, what isn't

Allowed:

  • A bot of which you are the sole owner, used only at Tradeify.
  • Trade copying between your own accounts (Group Trading on Tradovate, Trade Copier on WealthCharts), as long as you own and manage them yourself.
  • Position scaling (DCA), provided it is part of a structured strategy: the help center discourages continually adding to a losing position without a clear plan.

Prohibited or risky:

  • High-frequency trading and, more broadly, short-term trades aimed at manipulating or gaining an unfair advantage from the platform (section 6.4 of the agreement).
  • A bot shared with other traders or reused at other firms.
  • Copying or mirroring trades with another person, or having a third party manage your account.
  • Hedging: opposing positions on the same contract or on two products in the same group, including across your different accounts. A mini and a micro in opposite directions are still hedging. A multi-account bot must be designed never to produce these positions.
  • Exploiting platform errors (display discrepancies, update delays) and trading on an external or delayed data feed.

The case of a commercially bought bot, used by other traders, isn't explicitly addressed in the pages read. Taken literally, it seems hard to reconcile with the sole-ownership condition, and the Risk & Compliance Guidelines cite bots that aren't owned and the sharing of strategies among the grounds for review: ask support for confirmation before using one.

The numerical limits to build into a bot

  • 10-second rule (funded only): to request a payout, more than 50% of your trades and more than 50% of your profit must come from positions held longer than 10 seconds. Otherwise, the payout is denied, but the account doesn't fail. The agreement words the rule slightly differently ("50% or more" of the profit); it specifies that the help center prevails for trading rules.
  • Daily close: all positions must be closed by 4:45 PM New York time (12:59 PM on early-close days). Remaining positions are closed automatically, with no penalty.
  • Maximum size: 1 mini contract on a 25K account, 4 on a 50K, 8 on a 100K, 12 on a 150K (10 micros = 1 mini; minis and micros can be held together). These limits come from the "Essential Trading Rules Overview" page; we haven't verified whether Lightning or Elite Live accounts have other caps.
  • Minimum activity: at least one trade per week (Monday to Friday) and per account. The help center states that a very brief trade (5 seconds is cited) is enough for this activity requirement; it doesn't count toward the 10-second rule, however.

In practice: how it works

Tradeify provides for a possible audit at any time and without notice (section 6.10), and asks that you cooperate in case of a check. So keep the code, the development history and a way to demonstrate that the strategy is yours.

On the connection side ("Supported Platforms" page), accounts go through one of the three supported brokers: Tradovate, Rithmic or WealthCharts. NinjaTrader and TradingView go through Tradovate; Tradesea, Quantower, Sierra Chart and R | Trader go through Rithmic.

API and VPS. The help center states that the Tradovate API is only available for live funded accounts: it is not available for evaluations or for simulated funded accounts. As for VPS, the common FAQ specifies that you can't connect via a VPN or a VPS; once connected normally, using a VPS to trade is possible at your own risk. The Risk & Compliance Guidelines also mention a possible review in case of use of virtualization, remote access or anonymization technologies aimed at concealing the ownership of an account or circumventing controls, without citing VPNs or VPS. The pages read mention no VPS provided by Tradeify.

Third-party copiers. In its Tradovate guide, Tradeify specifies that using a third-party copier is your decision and your risk: it isn't responsible for the errors it may cause, and its support doesn't cover these problems. In Group Trading on Tradovate, bracket orders (ATM) aren't supported. The WealthCharts guide doesn't mention third-party copiers.

Are there differences depending on the account type?

The agreement (section 4.1) cites the Advanced Challenge, Growth Challenge, Lightning Funded, Select Flex and Select Daily accounts, and states that Elite Live accounts are issued via NinjaTrader and GFF Brokers (section 5). In the text of section 6.6, the condition on bots mentions no specific account type. The agreement also specifies that the rules of section 6.7 (hedging, copying between people) apply to all account types, evaluation and live alike.

The real difference concerns the 10-second rule: it only applies to funded accounts, not during the evaluation. The pages read specify no bot-specific rule for Elite Live accounts (not documented); on the other hand, the Tradovate API is only available on live funded accounts. If in doubt, ask support.

Key takeaways

  • Bots allowed with conditions: sole owner, use only at Tradeify, no HFT
  • More than 50% of trades and profit beyond 10 seconds to get a payout on funded
  • Positions closed at 4:45 PM (New York), hedging prohibited, including across your accounts
  • Tradovate API reserved for live funded accounts; VPS tolerated after a normal connection, at your own risk (no login via VPN/VPS)

Frequently asked questions

Does Tradeify allow trading bots?

Yes, with conditions. Tradeify's Funded Trader Agreement and help center allow bots and algorithms provided that you are the sole owner, that nobody else uses it, that it isn't used at other firms and that it doesn't engage in high-frequency trading (HFT).

Can you use a bought bot or another trader's bot?

Taken literally, the rule requires that you be the sole owner of the strategy and that nobody else has access to it or uses it. A bot sold to several traders therefore seems hard to reconcile with this text. Tradeify doesn't detail this case in the pages read: ask support for confirmation before committing.

Can the same bot run at Tradeify and at another prop firm?

According to Tradeify's help center, the bot can be used on your personal accounts at Tradeify, but using it with several firms is contrary to Tradeify's policy: it must remain reserved for your own use there.

What is the 10-second rule?

It is the anti-microscalping rule. On a funded account, the help center states that more than 50% of your trades and more than 50% of your profit must come from positions held longer than 10 seconds, otherwise the payout request is denied. The account isn't closed as a result, and the rule doesn't apply during the evaluation.

Can you copy your trades across several Tradeify accounts?

Yes, but only between accounts that you own and manage yourself (Group Trading on Tradovate, Trade Copier on WealthCharts). Copying or mirroring another person's trades is prohibited, and opposing positions across your accounts remain hedging, which is also prohibited. In its Tradovate guide, Tradeify specifies that third-party copiers are used at your own risk and that their support is beyond its scope.

Does Tradeify provide an API or a VPS for bots?

Tradeify's help center states that the Tradovate API is only available for live funded accounts, not for evaluations or simulated funded accounts. As for VPS, you can't connect via a VPN or a VPS; once connected normally, using a VPS to trade is possible at your own risk. The pages read mention no VPS provided by Tradeify. Accounts connect via Tradovate, Rithmic or WealthCharts. For a specific technical question, contact Tradeify's support.
